Pharmacy is the profession, which is the concern with the art and science of preparing drugs from natural and synthetic sources and converting into suitable and convenient material for the treatment and prevention of disease. Pharmacy degree holders have a greater degree of flexibility than any other profession because they can either start their career as entrepreneur or work in a hospital. Pharmacy graduates can work in several departments in pharma industries such as sales, marketing, research and development, manufacturing, quality check, education, etc.
The great visionary, an educationist, a philanthropist, a sports enthusiast Dr.Ishari K.Ganesh, the young and Dynamic Founder Chancellor of University in India, established Vel Pharmacy College in the academic year 2024–25 in the vels medical college campus, Manjankaranai in addition to the School Pharmaceutical studies which was started by the Vaels Educational Trust in the year 1992 as Vels College of Pharmacy and had grown by introducing undergraduate, post graduate and Doctoral programmes in Pharmacy. In the year 2008, the college was added as a member institution to VELS INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY AND ADVANCED STUDIES (VISTAS), Deemed to be University Estd. U/S 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
To become a globally recognized premier Institution of excellence in Academics and Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences and to create experts of pharmacy profession with high level of intellect, cultural and ethical values to serve the Society.

Vel Pharmacy College has been started in the academic year 2024-2025 under the management of VISTAS. Pharmacy profession is directly connected with the health care system of the society. B. Pharm is a course which creates the future pillars of health care system. I am assuring that the pharmacy education is an evergreen program which can create an Industrial Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist, Community Pharmacist and Hospital Pharmacist, Clinical Research Coordinator, Medical Writer, Research analyst, in Pharmacovigilance and even an entrepreneur of a Pharmaceutical industry .
