Pharmacy is the profession, which is the concern with the art and science of preparing drugs from natural and synthetic sources and converting into suitable and convenient material for the treatment and prevention of disease. Pharmacy degree holders have a greater degree of flexibility than any other profession because they can either start their career as entrepreneur or work in a hospital. Pharmacy graduates can work in several different industries such as sales, marketing, research and development, manufacturing, quality check, education, etc.

The great visionary, an educationist, a philanthropist, a sports enthusiast       Dr.Ishari K.Ganesh, the young and Dynamic Founder Chancellor of University in India, established Vel Pharmacy College in the academic year 2024–25 in the off campus center, in addition to the School of Pharmaceutical studies which was started by the Vaels Educational Trust in the year 1992 as Vels College of Pharmacy and had grown by introducing undergraduate, post graduate and Doctoral programs in Pharmacy. In the year 2008, the college was added as a member institution to VELS INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY AND ADVANCED STUDIES (VISTAS), Deemed to be University Estd. U/S 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
